Learning to Draw: Introduction
I am embarking on a new project to learn how to draw, specifically, how to use digital tools like Procreate on the iPad Pro in order to draw. The end goal? To draw things like concept art, backgrounds, character design, for the purpose of story-telling and creating new ideas.
How am I going to do this? Well, I’m still figuring it out. I’ve been looking at various tutorials on Skillshare and Udemy, as well as free videos on Youtube. I’ll be blogging about this escapade throughout, and hopefully, it’ll be a useful exercise in seeing how we learn new skills (especially creative skills) in the online era.
A rough sketch of the coming series:
- Selecting the hardware
- Tutorials, lessons, and videos
- Going through the lessons and videos
- Progress (we hope?)
The blog posts will be asynchronous with my actual progress in learning, for obvious reasons. If I had to blog every time I did something, that would be a nightmare. So, for that, I will keep “live” updates of my progress using the additional tag
#drawingupdates while the posts will simply be tagged
